Compusult was one of the vendors selected to participate in the OGC Web Mapping
Testbed - Phase II (WMT-2) and Geospatial Fusion Services Testbed - Phase
I (GFS-1).
Under this project, Compusult is working with the OGC in collaboration with
the sponsors and other participants to cost-share web mapping and cataloging
specification creation and testing. Once candidate specifications are created,
they are tested by implementing the specification within existing COTS packages
and performing integration testing in international Technology Integration
Experiments (TIEs). The specifications are refined during the TIE process
so that the resulting publication is known to be implementable.
The ultimate goal of the OGC process is the creation of international specifications
that result in the creation of Standards-based Commercial Off-The-Shelf (SCOTS)
software and an international framework in which users can discover, access
and obtain geospatial information and services.
Compusult’s primary role is in providing catalog services common to
both the WMT-2 and the GFS-1, the tasks for which include:
- Assisting in the definition and implementation of catalog, portrayal,
security, e-commerce. authentication, and general services, as well as Generalized
Mark-up Language (GML) and eXtensible Mark-up Language (XML) technologies.
- Assisting in the alignment of OGC Service metadata with ISO specifications;
in particular, alignment with ISO 19115 Geographic Information - Metadata
and alignment with/update of ISO 19119 Geographic Information - Services.
- Update of OGC Catalog specification to include a stateless catalog including
the development of a stateless catalog to test the new specification.
- Integration of E-Commerce ability into the OGC Service infrastructure.
- Evaluating existing OGC interfaces and functionality.
- Assisting in the development of scenarios that best demonstrate implementations
of the required interfaces.
- Rapid production of component implementations in support of prototyping
and Technology Integration Experiments (TIEs).
- Development of Standards-based Commercial Off-The-Shelf (SCOTS) components
and “wrappers” for existing components that demonstrate the
interfaces in accordance with defined and documented behaviors.
- Production of test suites (based on TIEs) consisting of implementations
of the planned services for WMT-2 and GFS-1, participating in the applicable
TIEs, and documenting how to use the components.
- Collecting the test suites as part of the “Demonstration Toolkit”
and making the toolkit available to participants and sponsors via OpenGIS.net.
Previous OGC Testbed activities focused on Web Mapping and Catalog services.
This testbed introduces a number of new services and defines a Common Service
Interface. The figure below describes the demonstration architecture for the
WMT-2 and GFST-1 testbeds.
