NASA's Science Mission purpose is to
increase its knowledge of Space and
Earth systems "to improve life here, to
extend life to there, and to find life
beyond."
NASA produces considerable
quantities of information about the
Earth from satellites, computational
models, and other sources. These
data are most useful when made
easily accessible. NASA has
deployed the Earth Science Gateway
(ESG) to effectively use this data for
improved knowledge gain and more effective decision support through an openstandards
based, Web services-enabled geospatial portal. NASA has chosen
Compusult's Web Enterprise Suite as the central web portal and catalogue for this
project. Potential users include scientists, analysts, decision makers, educators
and the public. ESG serves as a key resource for NASA, the science and research
communities, national and international earth observation systems initiatives and
society as a whole.
